Census: Population increased by over 10%

Compared to the previous census, the population of women is increasing as per the census. According to the preliminary results of the National Census-2021, the population of the country is 29,192,480 out of which 1,491,169 are females (51.04%) and 1,42,91,311 are males (48.96%).

Ten years ago, in the census of 2011, the share of males and females was 48.5% and 51.5% of the total population of 26.494 million. According to the current preliminary results, the sex ratio (number of males per 100 females) is 95.91. In the last census, there were 94.16 males for every 100 females.

The total population is 2,697,976 more than the previous census. In this way, the population of Nepal has increased by 10.18% in ten years. The department has stated that the average annual growth rate for the last ten years has been 0.93% which was 1.35% in the previous census.

At the state and district level of the National Census 2021, 1,871 employees were involved in administrative work and about 8,500 supervisors and 39,000 enumerators were involved in field work. After completing the on-site work of both the phases, the completed forms (House and Household Listing Form, Main Questionnaire and Community Questionnaire) have been received by the Central Statistics Office and processing has started.
