Nepal Chamber of Commerce has urged Germany to invest in physical infrastructure and industries that can promote exports. During a meeting with German Ambassador to Nepal Dr. Thomas Prinz at Chamber Building Jamal yesterday, Chairman of the Chamber Rajendra Malla urged for investment and cooperation in hydropower, tourism, and export-oriented industries.
During the meeting, Chairman Malla also requested Ambassador Prinz to invite the German private sector for a study visit as there is potential for investment in reservoir-based hydropower projects.
Stating that Nepal is running various campaigns to attract European countries in the tourism sector, he urged the Ambassador to take initiative to open direct flights from Kathmandu to Europe. He said that many tourists from Europe would come to Nepal if there was a direct flight from Kathmandu.
Chairman Malla said trade should be facilitated as there is demand for coffee, pashmina, herbal oil, handicraft items in European countries including Germany. During the meeting, Ambassador Prinz said that Nepal should move towards finding opportunities for tourism as it would increase in the world. Ambassador Prinz said that Nepal should meet the air safety standards for direct flights from Kathmandu to Frankfurt.
