Normal life in most of the Terai region, including Kapilvastu has been affected due to cold waves and thick fog. The increasing chill following the cold wave has made people appear little in the thoroughfares of Kapilvastu.
Gulam Ali of Taulihawa said people were facing problems to leave their homes because of the chilling atmosphere. Although cold has gripped Kapilvastu, the local government and local administrations have not been able to make arrangements of firewood at public places and temples.
Doctors said the people mostly from Dalit and backward communities, elderly ones and children were affected much due to the cold.
Chief District Officer of Kapilvastu, Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, shared that arrangement of firewood would be made soon in view of biting cold.
Number of people visiting different hospitals suffering from affected , cough and throat pain in the district has also increased. According to the District Administration Office, Taulihawa, the number of service recipients at different government offices in the district has decreased following dipping mercury.
