The National Examinations Board (NEB) has decided to hold the examinations of Class XII from home centres.

NEB member secretary Durga Aryal said the board decided to hold the examination from home centres due to a surge of coronavirus infection.

During the meeting of the Education and Health Committee of the Parliament held on Wednesday, Aryal said that examinations will be conducted from home centres as the students have to commute to the examination centres or rent a room that could increase the risk of the transmission of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Aryal, there are more than 1,000 schools each having more than 28 students and 2,300 schools having less than 50 students. Likewise, there are 3,400 schools having less than 100 students and 89 schools with more than 500 students.

The Office of the Controller of Examinations under the National Examinations Board (NEB) has issued a schedule for the examinations that will take place from August 15 to 25.
