Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Uddhav Thapa, has expressed commitment to address people's aspiration of Province's development, prosperity, good governance and social justice.
Making public the 'Province government's commitment paper' at the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers today, Chief Minister Thapa mentioned the need and importance of province structure on its strong foundation making implementation of federalism effective.
There was a responsibility to address the agitation launched against the naming of Koshi Province and other issues related to this on the basis of consensus, he shared.
The commitment paper reads, "Koshi Province government declared Padam Limbu Lajehang after he died in course of a demonstration launched against naming of Koshi Province and extended tribute towards martyr Limbu as well as wished all injured in the agitation a speedy recovery."
"The naming of the province is for the people of the province. There is no doubt that there should be ownership of the province folks in the naming of the province. It is the duties and responsibilities of the Province government and Province Assembly to address the reaction, dissatisfaction and protest surfaced towards naming through talks and discussion. I on behalf of the government express commitment to resolve problems including all questions raised in the naming of the province by maintaining mutual consensus among all political parties including main opposition", said CM Thapa.
Stating that the province government was always ready to address the genuine demands issues by all agitating sides, he requested the all political parties represented in the Province Assembly, agitating sides and Koshi province folks for necessary support for the same.
The Chief Minister expressed commitment that the government could not be isolated from people's problems, adding the province government was actively involved in control of and treatment of dengue and lumpy skin diseases seen in the province.
Mentioning that the Koshi province government was serious about addressing all problems linked with the disaster, CM Thapa viewed that the province government is preparing to take a vote of confidence within 10 days.
He further said that the process to construct four bailey bridges—two in Panchthar and two in Sankhuwasabha has been forwarded, saying the province government has demanded Rs 10 million from the Finance Ministry for the prevention, control and treatment of dengue outbreak at Dharan of Sunsari. ---
