Chiefs of constitutional commissions have called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singhadurbar on Thursday.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the constitutional bodies should be made further effective since they are the powerful mechanisms to end social discrimination in the society.
The Prime Minister also said that the constitutional bodies should be managed with required resources and infrastructure adding that their foundation was made possible after a huge struggle and debate.
“Empowering the communities is the commissions’ objective. The state should take necessary steps to institutionalise them for their social recognition and also enable them with rights and resources,” the PM argued on the commissions’ effective delivery.
Present on the occasion were Chair of Indigenous Nationalities Commission Ram Bahadur Thapa Magar, Chairperson of National Women Commission Kamala Parajuli, Chairperson of National Inclusion Commission Dr Ram Krishna Timalsena, Chair of Madhesi Commission Dr Bijay Kumar Dutta, Chair of Tharu Commission Bishnu Prasad Chaudhary, Chair of National Dalit Commission Devraj Bishwakarma and Acting Chair of National Muslim Commission Mahamadi Ali.
