Construction work on the playground of the Social Service Youth Club has started in Raghuganga Gaonpalika-3 of Myagdi. The construction of the playground has been started from the budget of Rs. 2 million allocated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Gandaki.
Club President Buddhi Bahadur Khatri said that the construction work of the playground was started after receiving the budget from the Ministry as there was no organized playground in the village center.
According to him, the construction work has been started by flooding the Dwarekhola river, which flows rainwater from the village, due to difficulties in managing suitable land for the playground. He informed that the construction of the playground has been started by making arrangements for the river to flow underground after the landowners on the left and right sides of the river provided land worth around Rs. 5 million free of cost.
In the first phase, land reclamation work has been started from the budget received from the Ministry. Secretary of the club Tham Buddhuja informed that the construction of the infrastructure will be started immediately.
The club has stated that parapets will also be constructed in the 30-meter-long and 23-meter-wide playground. According to the club, landowners Yam Kumari Garbuja, Saraswati Poudel, Nawaraj Subedi, Mesh Bahadur Khatri, Govind Bahadur Khatri, Krishnalal Sharma, and Madhu Subedi have provided land for the construction of the playground.
"It is very expensive to build the river underground and over the ground by making it a solid structure. This is not possible only with the budget from the ministry. We have planned to complete the playground with the help of donors from home and abroad," he said.
