Corrupts, criminals will be booked at any cost: DPM Shrestha

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has reaffirmed that those engaged in corruption, and criminals would not be spared since everyone is equal in the eyes of law.

At a talk programme on "Challenges of Socialist Journey: Corruption and Impunity" organized on 46th memorial day of communist leader Pushpalal in Kathmandu, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the corrupt alleged and criminals would be booked based on the facts and evidence.

"The innocents won't be caught and the guilty and criminals would not be spared. The culprits would be booked based on facts and evidence irrespective of their posts and partisan involvement," according to Shrestha.

He assured that the law was equal to commoners and the politicians and added that whoever involved in the wrongdoings would be punished.

DPM Shrestha also stated that he has ordered the investigating officials to carry out fair investigations to confirm whether or not they are culprits and bring the culprits under the law.

Likewise, he said that corruption and greed for commission has invaded politics.

Also speaking at the programme, Acting Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Rajendra Pandey termed corruption as a threat to democracy.

Similarly, Chairman of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Upendra Yadav, the political parties should act against corruption to advance the journey of socialism on the right track.

Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) said that his government is supporting the government by uniting the people from the streets in the fight against corruption.

Likewise, general secretary of CPN (Unified Socialist) Ghanshyam Bhusal said the government should strictly book corrupts and those involved in fake Bhutanese refugees scam and Lalita Niwas land grab scam.
