Country's economy gearing up for reforms-PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has claimed the politics and economy of the country are gearing up for improvement and its visible results would come till the end of his term.

Launching a biographical epic 'From Shepherd to Chief Election Commissioner' penned by former Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodi Prasad Yadav in the capital on Wednesday, Prime Minister Dahal said better results would surely come by the end of his third premiership compared to the second term.

PM Dahal further noted, "The country was also in troubled times when I took the prime ministerial berth for the second time. There were various disagreements and discontent on the constitution. Madhes was in unrest and the economy was not satisfactory. The form and framework of federalism was yet to be finalized. But we had put arduous efforts and the results had also come as anticipated".

He went on saying, "The country witnessed successful federalism practice. Elections were held from local to central level. Agitating parties also came to a consensus process. National economy also had witnessed progress with the attainment of 7. 5 percent economic growth and ending of load-shedding. Mega projects also made good progress. Now too efforts are being made to improve the performance and results than that of earlier tenure".

The country's economy was gearing up with progress, PM Dahal claimed, adding, "The economy would witness gradual improvement. Macroeconomic indicators are positive. The foreign currency reserve is positive. Other sectors are also seeing satisfactory progress. I am confident my third term as premier would be better than the second term in regard to performance and results".

On Ayodi Prasad Yadav's life, PM Dahal said, "He was the chief election commissioner when there was Madhes unrest and discontent on the constitution. It would not have been easier to hold the election from ward to President level had Yadav worked in an honest and committed manner".

On the occasion, various speakers, including former minister and Maoist Centre central leader Matrika Prasad Yadav and author Dr Yadav had highlighted several aspects of the book.
