Former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has underlined the need to control the degradation of the Chure region for the prosperity of Tarai-Madhesh.
Speaking at a program in Rajbiraj, Saptari, on Wednesday, the first President of the republic Nepal said," It is urgent to intervene in the Chure degradation so as to prevent it from turning into a desert."
He said the water level in the Tarai-Madhesh is depleting due to the impacts of change.
On a different note, the former President said it was a historic moment to promulgate the Constitution through the Constituent Assembly, with a guarantee of proportional inclusion. "However, reforms as per the Constitution are still awaited."
The first President expressed his concerns regarding the dowry system prevalent in the Tarai-Madhesh.
On the occasion, a civic felicitation was observed for Khusilal Mandal known as a prominent figure of the democratic movement.---
