Province 1 has recorded a total of 1,216 deaths from COVID-19 as of June 29.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, the ministry responsible for the health sector, among the deceased 849 are male and 367 female.

''A dozen of patients have succumbed to COVID-19 n the last 24 hours," says the ministry's daily report. The recorded infection number so far in the province is 71,301, with 42,526 males and 28,775 females.

The total recorded number of recoveries is 62,471. Out of this volume, 37,534 are male and 24,937 female.

Meanwhile, to mitigate more risks, local governments and District Administration Offices of all 14 districts of the province have tightened the non-essential mobility of the people. However, the health protocol seems to be ignored, increasing the risk of further infection.

''On National Paddy Day of June 29 also, many public functions were observed in the huge crowd. Even pubic officials and national leaders addressed those functions which are very unfortunate, says Dr Pramod Baral of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.
