CTEVT exams will run promptly: Minister Rai

Minister for Education, Health and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, has said an understanding has reached to conduct the exams under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training without further delay.

In a meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee today, the Minister said the Ministry, Medical Education Commission and CTEVT have reached a consensus on the matter.

Though the issues for exams have been sorted out for the time being, further clarity is needed in the Medical Education Act and the CTEVT Act to clear confusions on production and management of nursing and other health related human resources, according to him.

During the meeting, the Minister said the dispute between the Commission and the Council arising from their Acts would be resolved through mutual understanding.

It may be noted that the dispute between the two bodies with the Commission asserting that medical education including the PCL nursing programme should be governed according to the National Medical Education Act-2075 while the Council said its nursing education has long been operating under its own established laws and should not be intervened by the Commission. The issue has finally reached the parliamentary committee.

During the meeting, the Minister took time to urged office-bearers of both entities to be constructively responsible for the implementation of laws.

The meeting has agreed in principle to form a taskforce to address the issues between the Council and Commission.
