Curfew relaxed in Nepalgunj

Curfew imposed in Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city for an indefinite period from Tuesday has now been relaxed. Chief District Officer Bipin Acharya shared that the prohibitory order has been removed from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm today as per Local Administration Act, 2028.

The prohibitory order is enforced within the perimeter from Rapti River Bridge in east, route leading to Indrapur of Khajura road in west, Ranjha chowk in north and Jamunaha border in south from 8:00 pm on Thursday to 6:00 am on Friday, according to the District Administration Office, Banke.

Activities like gathering, assembly, rally, demonstration are not allowed in the area and more than five persons are also not allowed to gather at one place.

Requesting to maintain communal harmony, protect public property and to respect human rights in order to maintain peace and security in the district, the local administration appealed to all not to carry out activities affecting the people's private life.

During an all-side meeting held at the District Administration Office, Banke, on Wednesday expressed commitment to maintain social harmony, recommending the District Security Committee to relax the prohibitory order.

The District Administration Office, Banke, slapped the prohibitory order after harmony between Hindu and Muslim communities was disrupted in Nepalgunj over a status posted in a social networking site. ---
