Unregistered mobile phones can be registered by paying revenue. According to the Customs Department, the mobile can be registered after paying the revenue by filling in the necessary details in the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) implemented by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority. The department has mentioned that such unregistered mobile phones can be registered by July 15 after paying the revenue.
After the government through the financial bill for the next fiscal year 2080/81, it has been arranged that such unregistered mobile phones can be registered by paying revenue; the department has set a time for its implementation. Mobiles that are not registered within that time will be 'network locked' so that they will not be able to use the services of Nepal's
Telecommunication service providers.
