The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology had estimated October to be the dry month with only 66 millimeters of rainfall. As per the report, this is an average of 30 years. However, 248.7 mm of rain has fallen till October 20 this year.
The report states that the country has received the heaviest rainfall on Tuesday since 2009.
According to data collected by the branch from across the country, the average rainfall was 66 mm in October but 248.7 mm rainfall had fallen till making an increase of 602 per cent than what was expected, said Indira Kandel, head of the Meteorological Analysis Branch.
Dadeldhura was expected to receive an average of 31 mm of rain in October but got 420 mm of rainfalls. This is 972 percent more, she said.
According to her, this is the heaviest rainfall in the country since 2009.
The department is measuring rainfall from 215 weather stations across the country. Out of which, 63 are human-operated and 152 are automatic. Rainfall was recorded at 209 centers till Wednesday, according to the department.
