Gaindakot Municipality of Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat-Susta) has distributed goats in Ward No. 3. The municipality has distributed goats of advanced breeds to attract locals to goat rearing.
Chief of the Veterinary Services Branch of the municipality, Dr. Pramod Kumar Poudel, said that the goats of advanced breeds were distributed on Thursday after the municipality formed a group in Dhodeni of Ward No. 3. According to Poudel, goats have been distributed to four farmer groups. Veterinarian Poudel said that four Boer (50 percent) goats were distributed to four groups and 48 women belonging to the group were given advanced goats at the rate of one per group.
Mayor Chhatra Raj Poudel said that the goats were distributed to attract the locals to goat rearing. Stating that there is good potential for goat rearing in wards 3 and 18 of Gaindakot, Mayor Poudel said that these wards have been declared as pocket areas for goats. He said that the municipality has distributed goats and goats to increase the income of the locals by developing it as a pocket area of the meat.
The municipality has already formed a farmers' group in Ward No. 3 and distributed mother goats and goats to the members of the group. Mayor Poudel said that the objective of the municipality is to promote goats in Ward No. 3 of Gaindakot after the distribution of goats of advanced breeds. Mayor Poudel urged to link the goat promotion program with income generation and move ahead to produce more from these goats in the coming days.
