A woman died in Chitwan due to coronavirus within 23 hours of the husband passing away due to the contagion.

The District Administration Office (DAO) of Chitwan has advised people living close to the rivers to stay alert. Issuing a notice today, the administration has said that the water level in various rivers including Narayani and Rapti had been rising significantly and urged the settlements close to the rivers to be cautious.

The administration has asked people to be in high alert due to the heavy rains that Bankatta, Kalyanpur, Chharchhare, Govindabasti and adjoining areas in Madi have been witnessing.

Information Officer of the DAO Chitwan, Khemraj Poudel, has mentioned that there are chances of landslides occurring in the hilly areas of Ichhakamana, Kalika, Rapti and Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29. The administration has urged the locals to refrain from fishing in the rivers or gathering wood from the swollen rivers.

Meanwhile, 168 houses in Madi have been inundated due to the heavy rains. The District Emergency Operation Centre has said that the houses that have been inundated are located in Ward Nos. 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7 of Madi Municipality. Due to the flood in the Madi River vehicular movement between Madi and Bharatpur has been obstructed.
