Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has said it was necessary to provide health and education free of cost in a practical manner as the constitution has defined both services as fundamental rights.

At a programme organised at Danak-based AMDA Hospital on Tuesday to handover the oxygen plant, Minister Basnet mentioned that the incumbent government was sensitive to provide education and health services free of cost.

He underscored that the health services should be free of cost, not only affordable.

Stating that the Ministry has a plan to utilize beds of all government hospitals as cost-free beds, the Health Minister shared that discussion was held with management of Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar, and it agreed to provide 330 beds free of cost to patients.

On the occasion, Minister Basnet handed over the oxygen plant to AMDA Hospital and KIOCH-Damak Children's Hospital provided by America Nepal Medical Foundation free of cost.

Former President of America Nepal Medical Foundation, Dr Bhupesh Khadka, handed over necessary documents related to the oxygen plant to Medical Superintendent of AMDA Hospital, Damak, Dr Prakash Sharma, and Chairperson of KIOCH-Damak Children's Hospital, Dr Bhagwan Koirala.
