The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has decided to propose the Council of Ministers for conducting the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) adopting the method of internal assessment.

The meeting of the ministry held on Monday decided to propose the cabinet for conducting the SEE exam adopting the method of the internal evaluation like in the previous year, according to Ishworraj Dhakal, press coordinator for Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha.

The ministry's decision comes as the ongoing prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley has been extended for a week from today, till June 3. The prohibitory order in the valley is being enforced since April 29, restricting human mobility and shutting the market except for the essential ones in order to break the chain of transmission of coronavirus.

Last year, students could not appear in the exam as the government had imposed a nationwide lockdown. The SEE was conducted adopting evaluation method using 10 per cent from the first terminal exam, 30 per cent from the second terminal exam through the three-member evaluation committee including the school principal, class teacher and experienced teacher.

Likewise, the National Examination Board (NEB) had issued the SEE Class X Evaluation, Result Publication and Verification Procedure, 2077 BS. As per procedure, the evaluation committee submitted the student's score to the recommended Education Development and Coordination Unit (EDCU). Thereafter, the concerned EDCUs sent the details to the NEB.

Similarly, the NEB had prepared the result on the basis of scores sent by the EDCUs and issued the certificates to students.
