The Nandiwang Khola Micro Hydropower Project in Dhaulagiri Gaonpalika-5 Malkwang of Myagdi, which was closed due to landslide damage, has been reconstructed and brought into operation. A 40-meter long pipeline was damaged by a landslide in Nandiwang of Malkwang district on November 20.

Ward Chairperson Kharka Kumari Chhantyal informed that the power was restored after five months by purchasing and connecting a new pipeline with the grant assistance of Rs. 9 lakh from Dhawalagiri Municipality. "Electricity is now available in Malkwang, which has been dark since mid-November," he said.

The 42-kilowatt capacity project has provided electricity to 350 households in Malkwang, Bhedikhalta, Malampar and Bull of neighbouring ward no. 6, said Dalman Chhantyal, chairman of the project. The hydropower project was constructed in 2073 BS at a cost of Rs. 21,797,261.

Similarly, the 35-kilowatt capacity Darkhola Second Micro Hydropower Project in Dhaulagiri Gaonpalika-2 Lulang has been rebuilt after the powerhouse, dam and canal were closed due to the flood in Darkhola on September 6. Chairman of the Consumers' Committee Gyan Bahadur Paija said that the project was repaired with the assistance of Rs 2.2 million from the Gandaki state government and Dhawalagiri village municipality. The production of the project has been reduced from 43 kW to 35 kW due to the construction of the powerhouse in a safe place just above the river bank.

The electricity generated from the project has been consumed by 354 households in Lulang, Lamsung, Mareni and Khoria. A new building of a 25-meter culvert and powerhouse has been constructed at the source of the project.
