The Employment Permit System (EPS) which was on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic is resuming. Preparations are going on, informed the Department of Foreign Employment. Department’s Director-General, Deepak Kafle informed that Korea and the Human Resource Department (HRD) have already agreed to conduct the exams again, but the dates are yet to be fixed.

The language test will now be based on the computer system, so we’re looking for a place with the required infrastructures, informed Kafle. According to him, the computer laboratory at Pulchowk Engineering Campus can be an alternative.

According to the EPS Korea branch, the computers in the office are not enough for the CVT exams. There is a technical problem in the construction of the building prepared by the branch for conducting the examination. So, examinations cannot be conducted in the building informed Kafle.

Korea had issued a vacancy for more than 5000 employees for 2021, for which examinations should have taken place in May 2020 which is still pending. The examinations could not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Korea had planned to implement a biometric system to avoid fake examinees from the same year but couldn’t due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Examinations of two years have been interrupted. The examinations were not fixed due to the COVID-19 restrictions imposed by Korea. 92,000 applicants had applied for the language examinations in 2020 alone.

The employees who had already been granted visas couldn’t take off due to the COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the government. Director-General Kafle said that the process of sending the workers has started now.
