Farmer dies in Saptari elephant attack

A man died after an elephant attacked him in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality of Saptari district on Friday morning.

The marauding elephant that came from Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve attacked and killed 58-year-old Narayan Pranami of Bhardaha in the municipality, said local Ganga Prasad Saha.

Ranger at the Reserve Jayram Neupane and team deployed from Kanchanpur-based Area Police Office reached the incident site after getting information, according to warden Ashok Ram. He further said preparations were on to take the body to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for the postmortem.

Pranami was trampled while he was inspecting the wheat field, the locals said.
