Female leadership in Congress Regional Committee

Congress leader Maiya Shrestha won the regional chairmanship of the district's Provincial Assembly Constituency No. B.

For the first time, the regional working committee of the Nepali Congress has got a female leader. Congress leader Maiya Shrestha (Lawati) has won the regional chairmanship of the district's Provincial Assembly Constituency No. B by a wide margin. She defeated his rival Nagendra Kumar Lama by a margin of 64 votes and was elected the best regional chairman. While Shrestha got 274 votes, Lama got only 209.

Shrestha of Miklajung village municipality of the district had been a part of active politics of the Nepali Congress by joining various social organizations. Shrestha had nominated Surendra Kumar Dahal as the candidate for the post of district working committee chairperson under the 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress. Most of the candidates from Shrestha's side have won in the regional working committee.

Tej Bahadur Chemjong and Jit Bahadur Bhandari have won the post of deputy chairman of the working committee led by Shrestha. Bharat Tumbapo and Bhakta Lawati were unanimously elected as secretaries. Similarly, Jyoti Prabha Bhandari and Narendra Sharma have been elected as the two joint secretaries. In Panchthhar Pradesh Sabha Constituency No. B, out of 505 representatives including ward chairpersons and regional representatives, 497 had participated in the voting process. In Constituency No. A, another candidate for the post of District Working Committee Chairman, Rupnarayan Jabegu, has won.
