Festival helps to streamline economic activities: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the festival would help in boosting economic activities. Inaugurating the eighth Tanahu Festival organized by the Tanahu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Damauli from today, he said that the fair organized at the local level would help in reviving the economy of Covid-19.

Stating that the fair would be meaningful for the development of the economic and social sectors, Prime Minister Deuba said, "It is good for the economy that the fair, which has been suspended for two years by Corona, is being held." He said that the self-confidence of Nepalis has increased as every Nepali has been vaccinated against COVID-19. Prime Minister Deuba said that the festival should help in the promotion and marketing of locally produced goods.

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel said that the people should be made to live in the village by creating income and employment opportunities in the village. He stressed the need to continue the stalled development work in Tanahu.

Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha said that the government was committed to attracting domestic and foreign investment, adding that the current government was committed to development and prosperity. Stating that he was committed to eradicating the problem of foreign employment, Manti Shrestha said that the government was serious about creating employment within the country.

The festival is organized with the objective of studying and promoting economic, social development as well as local products, agriculture, culture, tourist sites, industry, and trade, said Pavindra Kumar Shrestha, president of the association. The festival, which will run till April 4, has a target of 500,000 spectators. Also, it is estimated that there will be financial transactions of Rs. 60 million during the festival.

In order to promote the historically and culturally prosperous rural settlements of the district which has a lot of potential for rural tourism, it is planned to take the visitors on a cultural model village tour. Arrangements have been made for the spectators to visit Manungkot, Kumaltari, Botegaun, Daraigaun, and other villages to observe the festival.
