The parliamentary special committee investigating the involvement of unauthorized persons in the budget preparation is studying the forensic report on the Ministry of Finance's CCTV obtained from the police.
The seal of the forensic report has been opened in the ongoing committee meeting at Singha Durbar and it is being studied.
The Forensic Science Laboratory of the Nepal Police submitted a report on the recovery of the CCTV footage of the Ministry of Finance to the committee.
Earlier, the ministry said that the CCTV footage will be retained for 13 days only and after that it will be deleted and the footage of that day has been deleted. After that, the parliamentary committee asked for the help of the police to recover the footage.
The then minister Janardan Sharma has been accused of manipulating the tax rate by calling unauthorized persons to the ministry, before presenting the budget for the financial year 2079/80 in the House of Representatives. Speaker Agni Sapkota formed an 11-member special parliamentary inquiry committee investigate this allegation. Sharma resigned from the post of finance minister on the same day.
