Five persons were killed and 41 others injured after a bus collided head-on with a tipper truck near Kohalpur in Banke district on Friday evening.
According to police, the bus (Me 1 Kha 3347) heading to Dharan from Surkhet collided with a truck without a registration number plate killing four men and a woman, and injuring others near Rohinikhola at around 6:00 pm today.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Khanal was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that the truck driver and another one travelling with him died in the incident. Three others who died in the road accident that occurred along the East-West Highway were the bus passengers, Khanal added.
Of the deceased, Jiban Kumar Neupane of Satakhani, Surkhet died on the spot while four others died during the course of treatment at Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur, police informed.
The injured ones were rushed to the Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur.
DSP Khanal informed that health condition of seven persons was critical. Meanwhile, investigation into the incident is underway, said police.
