Food crisis grips Nachai of Manang

The food crisis has gripped Nachal in Naso Rural Municipality-2 of Manang district.

Nachai has been grappling with food crisis after it lost connectivity with other geographical areas following incessant rainfall on June 18.

As many as 182 people of Nachai are facing trouble in eking out their daily livelihood due to food crisis. The floods and landslides that occurred along with the torrential rain last Tuesday had caused big damages to all eight wards except ward no. 2 of the rural municipality.

Arrangement of food is being made for the floods and landslides survivors from different agencies. But, those secured now are increasingly facing problems caused by food crisis, said ward-2 chair Bhim Bahadur Gurung.

“Neighbouring wards have been adversely affected by floods and landslides. There is no possibility to move from one to another place. Locals of Nachai are confined there. No foodstuffs and other essentials are being supplied here, the inventory of foods is also getting blank. Nachai is grappling with food crisis”, he added.

With the disruption of roads connecting the place after the downpour, the residents of Nachai have been troubled due to food shortage.
