A forest fire started at Chishankhugadhi area in Okhaldhunga district is not brought under control yet though the fire destroyed hundreds of hectares of community and private forests in the past three days. Division Forest Office Chief Gyan Kumar Lama said that they were assessing the damages caused by the forest fire.
The security personnel are trying their efforts to douse the forest and are protecting the human settlements and telecommunication towers from catching the fire.
More than 60 security personnel have been deployed to control the fire in different areas. However, the security personnel has faced difficulties to douse the fire for lack of sufficient water supply.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Govinda Raj Kafle said that the fire was not brought under control yet despite their continuous efforts. "The personnel are working to protect the human settlement now. The fire is ongoing in the forest area," DSP Kafle shared.
