Former speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Krishna Bahadur Mahara has received a clean chit on the rape case that he was accused of. The Patan High Court has given a clean chit to Mahara, who had already been given so by the Kathmandu District Court.
A joint bench of Justices Madhav Prasad Pokhrel and Bimal Subedi of Patan High Court decided to go along with the verdict issued by the Kathmandu District Court.

Subsequently, the police had arrested him from the government residence on October 6, 2019.
Mahara had remained in judicial custody for nearly five months. The Kathmandu District Court had given him a clean chit on February 17, 2020.
