The schools in four local levels in Baitadi district have resumed physical classes by adhering to the health safety protocols against COVID-19 from Sunday. Schools at Melauli Municipality, Purchadi Municipality, Dilashaini Rural Municipality, and Surnaya Rural Municipality have reopened the schools that were shut down for a long.

The district has recorded 18 COVID-19 fatalities so far. The district has 19 active cases as of now. At some local levels, there were not any cases of COVID-19, according to Surnaya Rural Municipality Chairperson Bir Bahadur Bista. Bista shared that physical distancing was maintained between the students in the classrooms. The students, teachers, and staffs have to wash hands with soap and use sanitisers to minimise the risk of the COVID infection. As the COVID-19 cases dropped significantly in the district, schools in Dasarathchand Municipality, Patan Municipality, Shivanath Rural Municipality, Pancheshwor Rural Municipality, and Sigaas Rural Municipality have resumed teaching-learning activities physically.

Similarly, classes will be operated physically in presence of teachers and students at Dogadakedar Rural Municipality from September 15, added Bista. Parents and teachers were worried about the study of children while the schools remained closed in the second wave of COVID-19. It has been learned that alternative method of teaching has not been effective in Nepal as students are deprived of laptops, mobile phones, and internet facilities.
