Four stranded in Kamala River, forest rescued

Police have rescued alive four persons including three women who were stranded in between Kamala River in Siraha district.

A team of police from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and Nepali Army rescued the stranded ones after eight hours of search and rescue operation, informed DSP Rajendra Shrestha at the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya.

The team of security officials prompted for search and rescue as soon as they were notified about the three locals swept away by the swollen Kamala River and were left stranded in the land that was in the middle of the River.

Police rescued alive Karidevi Mukhiya, 45, of Karjanha Municipality-3 in Siraha, Manidevi Darai, 40, and Bimala Rai, 35, of the same place. They had gone to the jungle that was surrounded by the River to collect timber woods.

They were suddenly swept away by the flash flood in the River and left stranded in the middle of the River, police said. Police have already handed the survivors to their respective families, shared DSP Shrestha.

Meanwhile, police have also rescued a 40-year-old hermit residing at a hut in the same jungle where the three women had gone to collect woods. The hermit is originally from Kajara in Dhanusha district, according to police.
