The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, along with the DepartmentofArchaeology of Nepal, is support the Franco-Nepali Archaeological Mission in DepartmentofArchaeology Mustang (MAFNAM) which recently conducted its inaugural field study.
The first half of the study focused on an in-depth study of the Kya Kye Gang site in Upper Mustang, including its ceramics. The latter part was dedicated to new explorations and ceramic studies in sites across Lower Mustang, such as the valleys of Syang, Phallyak, Chokhopani, and Garab Dzong.
The objective of the mission is to comprehend the long-term settlement dynamics of Mustang and the relationships it maintained with neighboring regions through comparative studies and mapping of transportation routes in the high Himalayan Mountains.
