Gandaki CM meets UN Resident Coordinator

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishna Chandra Nepali and United Nations Resident Coordinator Sara Beysolow Nyanti have held an official meeting in Pokhara on Sunday.

UN Resident Coordinator Nyanti, who arrived in Pokhara at the invitation of CM Nepali on the occasion of the World Tourism Day, held the meeting with CM Nepali in the Office of the Chief Minister.

CM Nepali recalled that Nepal has been engaged in the UN since its establishment, and has been successfully fulfilling its responsibilities in the Security Council to various other bodies.

CM Nepali said that Nepal has been contributing significantly to peacekeeping in the world. The CM said that Nepal was confident that the world would realize peace, stability, and prosperity under the UN leadership.

He said that the UN's support in achieving gender advancement, promoting human rights, and realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was very important in Nepal.

Likewise, UN Resident Coordinator Nyanti said that sustainable economic development and emission-free employment were the topmost priorities for the UN. "The UN is preparing development framework for five years. We will take forward the framework incorporating the priorities set by the provinces."

She also reaffirmed the UN's Committee for implementing SDGs and ensuring socio-economic development in Nepal based on justice.

Chief Secretary of the Gandaki Province, Dr Damodar Regmi, shed light on the priorities of the Gandaki Province Government and the roles of the UN to help realize them.
