The government has expressed suspicion that some Nepali students may have been killed in the attack on Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
In the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, Foreign Minister NP Saud said that out of 17 students in the conflict zone, 2 were in contact, 3 were injured and 12 were not in contact, so some of them may have been casualties. Minister Saud says that students studying at Kibbutz Alumin in southern Israel are out of touch.
He informed that the government has taken the incident in Israel seriously and a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister has been held under the coordination of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a coordination mechanism has been established including all relevant agencies.
He said that the mechanism has done the necessary work by continuously monitoring the incident and overall assessment of the situation.
He mentioned that the Nepali embassy has been instructed to rescue the Nepalese, to inform the Nepalese to follow the security instructions and rules issued by the Israeli government.
He said that the government of Nepal is fully committed to providing necessary support, coordination and facilitation to the Nepalis in Israel.
Foreign Minister Saud informed that there are currently 4,500 Nepali caregivers in Israel and 265 students are studying.
