Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Kedar Karki has said that the government should work as a servant of the people and not a ruler. At a press conference held at the Ministry today, he said that the government should fulfill its responsibility in a transparent manner to prevent the people from becoming frustrated. Stating that it is the 64th day that he has taken over the ministry today, he said that the government is vigilant to save the common people from the Omicron virus. Minister Karki informed that a 1,000-bed holding center would be set up in the Mechinagar Municipality of Jhapa soon.
He said that those involved in criminal activities would be brought under the purview of law and the activities of anarchic groups targeting the election would be stopped. He said that volunteer groups would be formed in all 137 municipalities of the state and the group would also conduct disaster management and anti-drug campaign. Minister Karki said that the management of all the prisons in the state should be improved and if the existing laws need to be studied and amended, they would be amended.
He said that help desks would be set up in every district to help the people who do not have access to justice and added that the government would pay special attention to road safety to reduce road accidents. "Our campaign is to build a self-respecting state," he said.
Minister Karki said that the process of purchasing Gazette printing machines from the state has already started and pointed out the need for the government to build a helipad in every municipality of the state and have at least one helicopter. He said that there was a need for helicopters in the state as it would be too late to coordinate with the Center to rescue the people affected by any natural calamity in the region.
