Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, said the government planned to come up with some relief programmes targeting the Nepali film sector affected by the coronavirus crisis.

During an inaugural ceremony of the ninth edition of 'Nepal Africa Film Festival' organised by the College of Journalism and Mass Communications here today, minister Gyawali promised to ensure relief assistance for the post-crisis Nepali film industry.

On the occasion, Nepal Film Development Board chair Dayaram Dahal stressed the need to organise at least one international film festival at home annually, expecting the government's special priority and efforts for the same.

Film Development Association Chair Akash Adhikari was of the view that the government should bring annual programmes targeting the development of the film industry and the Nepali film industry should be internationalised.

College founder Dr Manju Mishra expressed her view that the festival would help further consolidate the Nepal-Africa ties and understand each other on actual terms.

Nine African and some Nepali movies will be screened during the three-day festival, it is said.
