Government striving to settle labour difficulties

Deputy Prime Minister and Acting President of Nepali Congress (NC) Purna Bahadur Khadka has said the government would work to resolve the issues of labourers.

Inaugurating the 7th National General Convention of Nepal Trade Union Congress on Monday, Khadka said the government was positive in constituting Laobur Commission and implement the Social Security Fund for the labourers.

Likewise, NC's Acting President Khadka stated that the NC party leadership is positive in ensuring the representation of labourers in the party leadership.

On the occasion, Khadka stated that implementation of the laws is a challenge in resolving the issues of the labourers though several Acts and laws are formulated.

Likewise, he urged the delegates of the General Convention to submit the recommendations of the event to the government and NC.

Also speaking at the event, NC leader Dr Shekhar Koirala pledged to take initiative for the formation of Labour Commission and assured the representation of the labourers in the party's central level.

Similarly, NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula said that the rights of the labourers would be ensured only after implementing the rights ensured by the constitution.

Chair of Nepal Trade Union Congress Pushkar Acharya shared that the Union's organization would be expanded in all 753 local levels.

Likewise, former Chair of the Union Laxman Bahadur Basnet, Khilanath Dahal and others called for bringing the workers in the informal sector in the social security and form the Laobur Commission.

The Convention shall continue till June 21 and is scheduled to elect a new working committee for next five years.
