The government has taken initiation to purchase more Pfizer vaccines to vaccinate children from the age group of 5 to 11.
As children are at high risk of corona infection, the government has started the process of bringing Pfizer vaccine. Currently, children between the ages of 11 and 18 are being vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Roshan Pokharel informed that the government has started the process to bring Pfizer vaccine which is likely to arrive within two-three months. He said that discussions are underway with the concerned company for vaccinating the children within the age group.
Dr Surendra Chaurasia, chief of the Logistic Management of the supply management branch of Department of Health Services also said that work is in process to bring Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of five and 11 within two to three months.
The 6 million Pfizer vaccine that was being procured for children between the ages of 12 and 18 in Nepal will now be administered to children between the ages of 5 to 11.
Dr. According to Chaurasia, Nepal has already sent a proposal to purchase 8.4 million Pfizer vaccines.
