Govt adds 1,433 more vaccination sites for smooth operation

The government has now added 1,433 vaccination sites in order to manage the smooth operation of the vaccination drive. There are now a total of 4,422 vaccination centres across the country.

Before July 13, there were only 2,989 vaccination centres. The government launched the vaccination drive against COVID-19 with the Covishield vaccines brought from India from January 27, 2021.

Likewise, the vaccinations with the Vero Cell vaccine manufactured in China and the single-shot Janssen vaccine are also being conducted in a phase-wise manner.

Meanwhile, 1,828,484 people have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccines and 460,308 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 2,574,537 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 738,324 others have received the second dose as of August 6, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,009,423 persons — 95,636 in Province 1; 185,098 in Province 2; 299,696 in Bagmati Province; 92,747 in Gandaki Province; 226,848 in Lumbini Province, 25,242 in Karnali Province and 84156 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines.

The Ministry of Health and Population has continued the vaccination drive against COVID-19 in a phase-wise manner.
