Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha held discussion with stakeholders on government priorities in terms of disaster response.
The loss of human and physical property in the landslide and floods occurred in Taplejung, Paanchthar and Sankhuwasabha districts and the government responses were discussed in the meeting.
He informed that the government had intensified search, rescue and rehabilitation of victims. Similarly, distribution of relief materials and treatment to the injured ones was ensured by the government. Supply of food, drinking water, and electricity was also given emphasis equally.
With the entry of monsoon in Nepal, the downpour occurred since June 14 till date has claimed lives of 13 persons while 26 others have gone missing. Eight injured are receiving treatment. A total of 41 houses were destroyed and seven suffered partial damage.
On the occasion, Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transport, Prakash Jwala, informed that damage of roadway and bridges alone cost Rs 400 million.
