Farmers in Raghuganga and Mangala villages in Beni municipality are worried and frustrated after hail damaged wheat, barley, potato and maize crops. There was a hailstorm in Beg of Raghuganga, Bhagwati, Piple, Mouvaphant, Ratnechaur of Beni, Bhakunde, Bhakimli, Daduwa, Baranga of Mangala and Simalchaur.
According to Krishna Prasad Sharma of Raghuganga-3, the wheat, the freshly grown maize and the potato seedlings were destroyed by hail. At this time, wheat is being imported in the mid hills of the district.
There was hail along with strong winds. According to Krishnalal Sapkota of Mangala-3 Baranga, hail has also damaged orange and fruit and vegetable farms. The Agriculture Knowledge Center has stated that full details of the damage have not been received. The center has stated that local level agricultural technicians have been mobilized to collect the details of the damage.
