Dambar Hangam from Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected as the chairperson of Meringden Rural Municipality in the Taplejung district.
He secured 2,869 votes to win the election while his close contender Kedar Jung Chongwang from CPN-UML got 2,770 votes.
Likewise, CPN (Unified Socialist)'s candidate Durga Prasad Chongwang has been elected to the post of vice-chairperson in the rural municipality. He obtained 2,598 votes to emerge the winner.
Similarly, Rajan Limbu, a common candidate of the ruling alliance, emerged winner as the chairperson of Faktanglung Rural Municipality with 2,660 votes. His arch-rival Saroj Eved from CPN-UML secured 2,392 votes.
Rabion Sama Limbu from Nepali Congress has been elected to the post of vice-chairperson in the rural municipality with 2,358 votes.
