Home ministry directs all 77 districts to make plans to open economy

The Home Ministry has directed the District Administration Offices (DAOs) and security authorities of all 77 districts of the country to draft a working plan and move ahead accordingly to give some momentum to the economy that has been devastated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Soon after assuming office, newly appointed Minister of Home Affairs, Khagraj Adhikari, directed the ministry officials to forward a 12-point letter to the DAOs and security in-charges of all 77 districts to be proactive in controlling the spread of the coronavirus and make plans to further enhance the security mechanism.

Spokesperson of the Home Ministry, Janak Raj Dahal, said that the 12-point letter was forwarded to all 77 districts as per the direction of the minister. The ministry has also asked the concerned authorities to coordinate and facilitate the development projects initiated by the government so that they are completed on time. Minister Adhikari has also directed the district officials to monitor and help expedite development projects. However, the home minister has emphasised that all necessary health safety protocols must be followed during such work.

Minister Adhikari has also called for an evaluation of the effect of the prohibitory orders that have been imposed and urged the concerned authorities to make preparations so that economic activities can be taken forward but by keeping the safety of the citizens in priority.

The Home Ministry has also directed officials to make sure that no such activities take place that could disturb the peace and security of the respective districts. The ministry has requested the authorities to also be proactive and gather information of any untoward incident that could occur and make plans to stop such activities.

Minister Adhikari has further urged all officials under the Home Ministry and security personnel to carry out their duties in such a manner that there is no complaint from the people. He has also directed them to make sure that all activities are conducted in a transparent way and by respecting the rights of the people.

The minister has also directed the concerned authorities to coordinate with respective officials and start making preparations so that the mid-term elections which are to be held on November 12 and 19 are conducted in a transparent manner.

The Home Ministry has also directed officials of the border districts to strictly monitor the movement of people across the borders and maintain data of such movement. It has also directed them to make sure that travellers are allowed to enter Nepal only after the necessary health tests have been conducted.
