A person who has been listed in the ‘most wanted’ list of the Indian police was apprehended in Nepal with a pistol and drugs in his possession. Armed Police Force (APF) personnel nabbed 41-year-old Pappu Kumar Patel, a resident of Indra Nagar in Jogbani Nagar Panchayat-9, India with the pistol and drugs.
Patel, who had been on the run, was wanted by the Indian police for his involvement in multiple crimes.
A team led by Inspector Mausam Pokhrel of the Border Outpost of the Armed Police Force based in Rani of Biratnagar, nabbed Patel from Hulas Chowk in Biratnagar-16 at 10:30 pm on Wednesday. According to the initial investigation conducted by the police, Patel had been staying in Biratnagar in the guise of a scrap collector and committing various crimes.
Inspector Pokhrel informed that Patel was caught from the dumping site close to the border pillar number 180 when he was trying to cross into Nepal from India. He said the fugitive had a pistol and drugs in his possession when he was caught by the APF personnel.
Patel had been involved in extorting money from business persons in India besides committing other crimes and the Indian police had also intensified its search to locate his whereabouts.
