The Indian construction company Garg and Garg Co. has handed over Rs 16 lakhs (IRS 10 lakhs) as compensation to the relatives of the victim in the incident of death of 12-year-old Pawan Mahara of Byas-2, Darchula.
Mahara was struck dead when a stone coming from the construction site hit him on Saturday.
According to police, Garg & Garg Company, which is constructing the Tawaghat-Lipulek road, has provided Nepalese rupees 1.6 million as compensation to the victim’s family after a discussion was held at the Sub Divisional Magistrate Office office in Dharchula on Saturday in the presence of the Nepal government’s representatives.
Darchula Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tarkaraj Pandey confirmed that Garg & Garg Company has provided Rs. 1.6 million to the victim’s family.
DSP Pandey stated that the boy was killed by a falling stone while the company was exploding gelatin during road construction. The victim’s 14-year-old sister Sarina Mahara was also injured in the incident.
The authorities from both Nepal and India side agreed that both sides should give prior information when gelatin is exploded in the coming days.
After getting the compensation, relatives of the deceased are ready to recover the child’s body.
Police said that the dead body kept at the district hospital for examination will be handed over to the family after completion of the procedure.
