Police had arrested five persons from the same village on the charge of killing Mantu, the 12-year-old son of Nagendra Prasad Kurmi of Jagarnathpur Gaonpalika-6 of Parsa on December 28. Among the arrested are Gowari Raut Ahir, 64, Nag Raut Ahir, 55, Shatrudhan Prasad Yadav, 32, Manmohan Prasad Yadav, 30, and Rohan Prasad Yadav, 25. Parsa Deputy Superintendent of Police Omprakash Khanal informed that an investigation has been started into the abduction and death of the arrested persons.

He was arrested during a police investigation based on a Kitani complaint filed against him by Mantu's family. A team deployed from the Area Police Office, Pokhriya arrested them from the Nepal-India border at Chhipaharmai Gaonpalika-6, Bhishwa. It has been revealed during the investigation that the accused killed Mantu due to family resentment.

Khanal said that the initial investigation revealed that the boy was abducted and killed with the intention of pressuring him to change his statement in the ongoing criminal case between the accused and the victim's family. According to locals, they had abducted Mantu to increase pressure on his family in a pending criminal case between the two families. Later, fearing to reveal his identity, Mantu was killed and his body was dumped in a field. The court has extended the time limit by seven days for investigating the case of abduction and killing of the accused. Mantu's body was found in a sugarcane field in the village on January 7.
