Journalism should be accountable towards human rights

Executive Chairperson of National News Agency (RSS), Dharmendra Jha, has said that journalism should be pro-people and accountable towards human rights.

Concluding a two-day orientation for RSS media workers in Birgunj, Parsa today, he said that journalists have an important role to connect RSS to the local people. The orientation was organised by the Madhes Province Mass Media Authority based in Janakpurdham in collaboration with the RSS.

President Jha emphasized that the government should pay attention to publish RSS bulletin in different languages for the protection and promotion of the local languages spoken in Madhes province.

He pledged that RSS will pay special attention in the coming days to work as a bridge between Madhesh province government and the people. RSS is a responsible institution of the country and focus has been laid on digital technology to make RSS a news agency of international standard.

Since the RSS is the medium of the country and the people, the tools that work in the public interest should be strengthened.

RSS General Manager Siddharaj Rai said that the orientation was organized with the aim of informing RSS journalists about their responsibilities and duties. He hoped that following the orientation the RSS journalists would be able to collect good news stories.

RSS Chief Editor Yekraj Pathak emphasized on the need to pay attention to writing credible news reports and articles for bringing about social change in the country.

Addressing the closing session, Chair of the Madhesh Province Mass Media Authority, Shyamsunder Yadav, expressed happiness over being able to invest in enhancing the capacity of ordinary journalists on the basis of inclusiveness.
