Minister for Social Development of Sudurpaschim Province Jhapat Bahadur Saud today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a covered hall in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur.
The over Rs 130 million multipurpose covered hall is expected to produce additional athletes, said the minister while praising Kanchanpur for its contribution to make athletes of the province known nationally and internationally.
"Kanchanpur has produced many talent athletes ranging from cricketers to Olympians. This covered hall is expected to produce more. The province has come up with a policy to develop sports and is always at work for the construction of physical infrastructures for sports, and for the welfare of athletes."
For the project, the province allocated Rs 80 million in the current fiscal year, 2022/23, and has set aside Rs 50 million in the next FY. Baijanath-Kantur JV has won the contract, and the completion period is three years.
