Families displaced from the landslide of Silichong rural municipality-1 in Sankhuwasabha district have received land.
A total of 92 families were displaced by the landslide that occurred on July 11, 2020. Of the displaced families, 55 families received land at Khandbari municipality-7.
Chief District Officer, Noor Hari Khatiwada, said the District Disaster Management Committee, Khandbari municipality, and Silichong rural municipality jointly distributed land to the families through a lottery system.
The 55 families displaced from the landslide have selected Khandbari for rehabilitation. A land management committee formed under the coordination of the deputy-mayor of Khandbari municipality had purchased 69 ropanis of land at Khandbari municipality-7.
Khatiwada shared that the landslide displaced families would get Rs 50,000 would be provided to build temporary huts in the first phase and Rs 500,000 to construct houses in three tranches.
Similarly, other 25 families displaced from the landslide have been shifted to Chitregoun and 12 families at Bakhaltu of Silichong rural municipality. A total of 51.5 ropanis of land was purchased in Chitre and 17.5 ropanis at Bakhaltu for the same.
The land was purchased with the budget of the federal government, the provincial government, and the rural municipality.
The families displaced by landslides are happy after getting land. The landslide had swept away the entire village and 92 families were displaced due to this. A total of 11 people are still missing from the landslide that occurred two years ago.
