Lawmakers of the National Assembly have urged the government to immediately make the House clear about State Partnership Program (SPP), saying the government has not briefed about it so far.
In a special hour of today's NA meeting, they suggested the government to show mature diplomatic capacity, to firmly implement non-aligned foreign policy, to forge national consensus before signing international-level agreement and to always stand united for the sovereignty, integrity and independence of the country.
Lawmaker Bamdev Gautam said the government should make clear about the SPP agreement proposed by the United States of America.
Gautam shared, "The Prime Minister should be present in the House and inform the parliament about it in person in order to maintain parliament's dignity."
Presenting the fact that the then government led by CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli had forwarded the SPP, no matter who initiated it, he opined that all should inform the parliament about its truth and fact.
Similarly, Prakash Pantha said all should be responsible about foreign affairs and diplomatic relations should be taken ahead being sensitive, not blaming each other.
NA member Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa (Parbati) stressed that the government should brief the House about the SPP draft.
Pointing out the need of broader discussion among national political parties before signing international-level agreements, Urmila Aryal shared, "Showing the duel character while staying in the government and remaining as opposition cannot strengthen nationality."
Similarly, Mohammad Kalid stressed on making country's foreign policy keeping sovereignty, integrity and independence in mind.
On the occasion, NA Secretary Rajendra Phunyal presented 'Appropriation Bill-2022' sent by the House of Representatives with message.
